In the early 1970s, in the small community of Smithville, Missouri, a group of six families met together to form a Bible study that met during the week.  Their strong desire to receive solid, Biblical teaching prompted them to start meeting on Sundays.  From that early Bible study, Emmanuel Bible Church was born.

The new church first met at the Community Center in Smithville.  The congregation soon outgrew that facility and began meeting in the Smithville Elementary School. In the Spring of 1975, land just north of Smithville was donated to Emmanuel Bible Church by one of the church members.  Construction began in the summer of 1975, and the first service was held on Easter Sunday in 1977.  We are worshiping in the same building today.

“Loving God, Loving People” has become the guiding principle of Emmanuel Bible Church.  It is our desire to not only love God with out whole being, but to share His love with those we come in contact with every day.  The world is full of people who are hurting, lonely, and in need of hope.  Through our various ministries at Emmanuel, we endeavor to share the good news of Jesus Christ and through him, give hope, comfort, and the encouragement to those around us.
